What are Assembly District Delegates?

Every two years, the CA Democrats elect 7 women and 7 men from each Assembly District in CA as delegates to the state party. Those who are elected will have a chance to vote for the new party chair and other leadership. The race is hotly contested and will determine how welcoming, grassroots-focused and innovative the party becomes or how beholden it will remain to big money interests.

Delegates elect Party officers, endorse candidates for statewide, legislative and congressional office, attend the annual convention, network with other Democrats, represent your constituency, promote the California Democratic Party agenda, and vote to endorse resolutions and ballot measures.

You get 14 votes for delegates, 1 of which you must also vote for Executive Board Representative.

The time for action is now, and as a life-long Democrat I am ready for the challenge of making our party the best it can be. My passion for politics and dedication to the party and California make me an ideal candidate. I served the party as a Delegate to the 2016 DNC Convention and am currently working to build the party’s grassroots in eastern Placer County through formation of a chartered Club. I have worked on multiple Democratic campaigns and currently serve as a Representative on a local Community Advisory Board.

We live in a deep red district that often lacks Democratic candidates running for office, so we need Activists that can find the best candidates to challenge the GOP establishment and turn our district blue. I promise you that I will do just that. Being a life-long resident of the AD, I know the challenges facing our area and will fight for the best solutions to meet them.

As an Environmental Scientist, I am acutely familiar with the environmental issues and natural-resource based economies of the district. I want to advocate for greater outreach by the state party in our region, and push for environmental protections that preserve our natural resources while simultaneously supporting our rural economy. I will fight for a platform, candidates and initiatives that support our unique communities and protect the beautiful environment in our area of the Golden State.

In addition, I am a passionate and progressive civil rights and social justice activist who will campaign to end Citizens United, pass Medicare for All, make the minimum wage a living wage for all California’s Working Families, defend Equality, and work to increase voter registration and participation.

As a young Democrat, I want to take this opportunity NOW to get deeply involved in the party, and dedicate the rest of my life to ensure our party will forever be the party of, by and for the people. Rural Democrats face an uphill battle over the next several years and I have the passion, experience, and dedication to make sure we elect CA Democrats up and down the ticket, and take back Congress in 2018 and the White House in 2020. Thank you in advance for your support for my election, vote Nicole Lutkemuller for ADEM Delegate. I can be contacted at (916) 303-3513 or nicolel_329@hotmail.com.

Life-long Democrat originally from Mendocino / Sonoma counties. Currently living in Placer County.

I’ve spent the last two years working tirelessly for local Democratic candidates as the Outreach Committee Chair with Placer County Democrats.

I was a Bernie Sanders supporter in the primary because he spoke to the cause of the working person.

We need to return our party to its past so that it speaks for the working class.
