What are Assembly District Delegates?
Every two years, the CA Democrats elect 7 women and 7 men from each Assembly District in CA as delegates to the state party. Those who are elected will have a chance to vote for the new party chair and other leadership. The race is hotly contested and will determine how welcoming, grassroots-focused and innovative the party becomes or how beholden it will remain to big money interests.
Delegates elect Party officers, endorse candidates for statewide, legislative and congressional office, attend the annual convention, network with other Democrats, represent your constituency, promote the California Democratic Party agenda, and vote to endorse resolutions and ballot measures.
You get 14 votes for delegates, 1 of which you must also vote for Executive Board Representative.

As an immigrant from Latin America I was born under a military dictatorship which is why I cherish democracy. I served as a Delegate at the DNC and look forward to continuing to represent my fellow Californians. Professionally, I have over 20 yrs of marketing experience including marketing to millennials, I understand what it takes to get them engaged! I’m asking for your vote because our Party is at a cross roads and fundamental change is needed. I’ll fight to implement changes including campaign finance reform & environmental protections.
My name is Deana J. Becker and I currently reside in Marina Del Rey.
I am a lifelong Democrat, elected as a DNC Delegate in CD37, and chosen by the Party to attend the DNC as a Delegate At-Large. I am a proud member of the Screen Actors Guild and I’m an IHSS worker.
My experience in Business management, Film Production, Acting and Special Needs Advocacy provides me a well-rounded set of skills that can be utilized to make our Party stronger and more appealing to new membership. My interests are affordable housing, education and fighting for livable wages growth.
I am a lifelong Democrat & UCLA RN who is also a union representative for CNA, California Nurses Association. We were the first organization to officially endorse Bernie Sanders, who I campaigned for in Nevada & California. I’ve been involved in meeting with Assembly members in Sacramento on a variety of legislative issues to promote CNA’s progressive values.
– I’m honored to be the 62nd AD 2016 Democratic Woman of the Year.
I ask for your vote for a second term as a delegate. Having chaired the successful Yes On 59
campaign in 2016 to “Overturn Citizens United” I am more committed than ever to getting Big
Money out of politics so that the pursuit of corporate profits stops being the basis for our policies.
Now more than ever California must lead the nation and a progressive Democratic Party must lead California.
